Yogasanas for PCOS –
- Bhujangasan/Cobra Pose – The cobra pose stretches the abdominal organs and boosts ovarian functions. Bhujangasan does wonders on activating the kundalini (primal energy that is the main driving force of all life; including sexual energy), thereby aiding in controlling symptoms of PCOS.
- Dhanurasan/ Bow Pose – One of the best poses to help constipation, this pose increases circulation in the head and pelvic region. It releases tension from the abdomen and strengthens it and the organs around. “Regular practice of this asana strengthens the reproductive organs.
- Setubandhasana or bridge pose– The bridge pose helps in regulating thyroid function, an important aspect of PCOS. It is also known to stimulate organs in the abdominal cavity. This helps with fertility, menstruation, and improves lung capacity.
- Naukaasana or boat pose – “This pose strengthens the legs, the spine and neck and also helps tone the waist, abdomen and back. It also helps strengthen the core muscles, reproductive organs and the pelvic region and releases stress and anxiety,”
- Balasana or child’s pose – “The child’s pose helps in relaxing the central nervous system, thus helps in stress management. It also helps in easing out lower back tension, menstrual cramps, and PMS symptoms and normalizes blood flow throughout the body,”
- Cat Cow pose – With synchronised slow breathing, this asana helps relieve the tension in the spine, back and neck muscles. It creates mobility in the spine and helps relax and ease the entire body.
