Khakhra belongs to Gujarati community. It is a round-shaped, crisp roti or flat bread that is eaten as a snack. It is made up of wheat flour, moth bean flour & oil. For all the millet lover out there & the gluten intolerant people, a healthy snack like Jowar Methi Khakhra is a life saviour. It not only satiates the cravings for easy savory snack during tea time but is also a filler snack between meals.
Ingredients for 5 Servings:
1. Sorghum Flour – 1 cup
2. Salt – 1 tbsp
3. Olive Oil – 1 tsp
4. Water – 1 cup
5. Carrom Seeds (Ajwain) – 1 tsp
6. Dried Fenugreek Leaves (Kasuri Methi) – 1 tbsp
Method:
1. Take 1 cup water in a pan.
2. Add 1 tsp salt into it.
3. Add 1 tsp Olive Oil, once it starts boiling.
4. Now add 1 cup Sorghum Flour, mix well & switch off the flame.
5. Cover the pan with a lid & leave for 5 minutes.
6. Take it out in some other bowl & add 1 tsp carom seeds & 1 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves.
7. Knead into a smooth dough and further leave it covered for 15-20 minutes for better results.
8. Roll out into thin chapattis and roast on Tawa over low flame.
9. Press it firmly on all sides, so that it becomes flat & crispy.
10. Store in air tight container for future use.
