Focaccia is a flat oven-baked Italian bread product similar in style and texture to pizza dough. Focaccia can be used as a side to many meals or as sandwich bread. This quick and easy recipe has been created without yeast. The recipe required no proofing, no raising nor kneading, just fold in all the ingredients and bake.
Ingredients:
1. Whole wheat flour – 2 cups
2. Baking soda- 1/2 tsp
3. Rock Salt – 1/2 tsp
4. Curd – 1/4 cup
5. Unsalted melted butter – 2 tbsp
6. Garlic cloves – 5-6
7. Fresh Basil leaves – 5-6
8. Oregano
9. Mixed herbs/ Rosemary
10. Lukewarm water
Method:
1. In a mixing bowl, take flour, salt, baking soda – Mix well first.
2. Make a hollow in the center & add curd & mix well.
3. Add lukewarm water & knead it well to a smooth slightly sticky dough.
4. In a bowl take melted butter, along with oregano, minced garlic, rosemary & fresh sliced basil leaves. Mix well and set aside.
5. Take the dough in the pan you are going to bake. Make dents with your fingers.
6. Spread the garlic butter mixture over it and spread it evenly on all sides. The dough will become little loose after adding butter and oil. Garnish with few more sliced basil leaves.
7. Preheat oven at 220 degree C for 10mins.and bake in preheated oven for about 20-25mins or until you see a golden top.
8. Cool completely, then slice and serve with dip or soup of your choice.
