This is a traditional Ayurvedic recipe for a restful night’s sleep. These herbs are effective at reducing the Vata traits that contribute to insomnia and a disturbed night’s sleep. Vata governs movement, activity, and the thought process. It creates a restless mind and body, anxiety, and hyperactive thinking when out of balance or increased.

Consume it at least 2 hours post-dinner and half n hour before bed time.

Ingredients:

  1. Skimmed Cow milk or almond milk – 1/2 cup (120-150 ml)
  2. Saffron – 1/4 tsp (4-5 strands)
  3. Cow Ghee – 1/4 tsp (optional)
  4. Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp
  5.  Cinnamon Powder – a pinc

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients well except honey (if using honey)
  2. Pour into a saucepan and heat on medium flame.
  3. Bring to a gentle boil.
  4. Stir for 2-3 minutes and serve.

Dosha Tip: 

  • Vata & Kapha types can drink it warm.
  • Pitta People should have it lukewarm only.
