All the women in their Peri- menopausal phase (40-50) suffer from different symptoms, as per their Prakriti & Dosha Imbalance –
✔️ Vata-type menopausal symptoms include mood swings, anxiety, memory loss, insomnia, constipation, reduced bone density, dry skin and mucous membranes (including vagina).
✔️ Pitta-type menopausal symptoms include hot flushes/flashes, night sweats, heavy bleeding during perimenopause, anger, high blood pressure, excessive irritability, skin rashes etc.
✔️Kapha type menopausal symptoms include weight gain, fluid retention, high cholesterol, depression, lethargy and feelings of mental and physical heaviness.
Remedies for Hot Flashes & Night Sweats
- Saffron – Hormone Balance and Progesterone, Detoxifies | Usage: 5-6 Sstrings of saffron mixed with 1 glass lukewarm milk before bedtime. Can also be had for garnishing desserts etc.
- Amla – Detoxifies, Boosts Metabolism, Reduces Heat and Inflammation | Usage: Amla murabba is the best choice for balancing Pitta & Vata. can also be had as juice, pickles or candies.
- Coriander – Reduces heat, Flushes toxins and Improves Circulation | Usage: Soak 1 tsp coriander seeds overnight in 1 glass of water & have it on an empty stomach in the morning. Use for garnishing in gravies, curries, sabjis & snacks.
- Licorice – Contains Phytoestrogen & balances Pitta & Vata | Usage: Add 1-inch dry mulethi root (or half a teaspoon of mulethi powder) to boiled water, steep for 10 minutes, strain. Drink this water 2 – 3 times a day.
- Fennel – Supports Estrogen balance, Reduces Heat and Improves Circulation | Usage: Soak 1 tsp fennel seeds overnight in 1 glass of water & have it on an empty stomach in the morning. Chew fennel after meals with jaggery.
- Shatavari – Acts as a Tonic for uterus, reduces heat, Hormone Balance, contains phytoestrogen | Usage: 1/2 tsp of shatavari powder with 1 glass lukewarm milk before bedtime. Shatavari powder can be taken with soups, juices etc.
