Yoga Poses for Spring Detox – In order to have a fresh and light start to the new season, spring is a good time to clear up your body, mind & Soul of collected clutter during winters.

These yoga poses will help you feel more energetic, renewed, and ready to move from the chilly, shorter winter days to the warmer, longer spring days.

  1. PARIVRTTA ANJANEYASANA (REVOLVED CRESCENT LUNGE) – This position engages the entire body, and the internal abdominal organs and kidneys are compressed as the torso twists, aiding the detoxification process. The body is flushed with oxygen-rich blood when the twist is released, which helps to optimise the digestive and lymphatic systems.
  2. ARDHA MATSYENDRASANA (SEATED SPINAL TWIST) – When the twist is released, the body’s stored tension is relieved, allowing new blood and nutrients to reach the muscles and organs. By working on the liver and kidneys, activating the lymphatic system, and releasing toxins, it helps to stimulate the abdominal area, promote circulation, digestion, and excretion.

  3. ARDHA CHANDRASANA (HALF MOON POSE)- Half Moon serves to tone the abdominal organs, particularly the kidneys and pancreas, and enhances the overall function of the digestive system. It not only relieves a variety of stomach issues, but it also improves blood flow to the lungs and lung capacity, which can aid with respiratory issues.
  4. ADHO MUKHA SVANASANA(DOWNWARD-FACING DOG) -The slight compression from pulling the navel into the spine stimulates the spleen, liver, and kidneys’ digestive function, while the positioning of the head below the heart stimulates the circulatory system to pump fresh blood throughout the body, helping to flush out toxins and boost immune health. If you have nasal congestion, it might also assist to open up your sinuses and allow mucus to flow freely.
  5. SALABHASANA/ (LOCUST POSE)- The abdominal organs such as the kidney, liver, and spleen are                  strengthened, toned, and massaged as you practise locust. The posture is also known to help with                      constipation and indigestion, as well as improving the digestive system’s efficiency.
  6. MATSYASANA (FISH POSE) – The abdominal muscles and abdomen are stretched and compressed in the fish stance, which helps digestion and promotes nutrition absorption. It also boosts immunological responses by stimulating the thyroid and thymus. Matsyasana can also help with constipation and respiratory problems.
