Dates Syrup is the vegan substitute for honey & is a natural sweetener. This can be easily made at home naturally unlike the other processed replacements of Honey. Dates contain at least six vitamins including a small amount of vitamin C, and vitamins B(1) thiamine, B(2) riboflavin, nicotinic acid (niacin) and vitamin A. Let’s see how to make it.

Ingredients

  • Dates – 1 cup
  • Water – 1 cup (hot)

 

Method

  • Deseed the dates and take them in a vessel & wash it once.
  • Then soak the dates in 1 cup of hot water for 10 minutes, to soften them.
  • Mash the dates well with your hands and extract the dates water by straining using a cheese cloth. Squeeze out the water completely.
  • Discard the leftover dates fiber and collect the water in a saucepan.
  • Boil the dates water in a saucepan until it becomes thick. Keep the flame low to medium and stir it occasionally to avoid burning at the bottom.
  • Boil it until it becomes quite dark, thick and reached a honey like consistency.
