Around 60% of our body is made up of water. It regulates body temperature & all the organs in our body. A minimum of 2 – 2.5 liters of water is recommended for an adult but this varies according to the level of movement or physical activity of the person.

Drinking adequate quantity water is a key to weight loss as it detoxifies the body & removes all the toxins & the type of water that we consume the whole day acts as a stimulator.

  • Cumin Water (Jeera Water)– Cumin seeds contain thymol (a compound that stimulates the enzymes). Enzymes enable better secretion of digestive juices leading to better digestion and avoid bloating.
    • How to make Cumin water – Soak a teaspoon of cumin seeds in 1 glass of water (250 ml) overnight. Boil the soaked cumin seeds in water the next morning. Before drinking, squeeze a few drops of lemon juice into the water.
  • Fennel water (Saunf Water) – Fennel seeds are very rich in dietary fibers and antioxidants. Besides leading to absorption of vitamins & minerals antioxidants help in breaking down the fats and carbs in the body & prevent gaining extra weight. The diuretic properties in Fennel seeds helps in flushing out the toxins and other harmful liquids from the body
    • How to make Fennel water – Soak a teaspoon of Fennel seeds in water overnight. Heat & strain before drinking (don’t boil)
  • Detox water – Detoxing means flushing out toxins from the body that may be harmful to mental, metabolic and reproductive health. Detox water is infused with herbs as well as antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables. Though there are different types of detox water combinations but these easy combinations can be tried to start with:
    • Mint-Lemon-Cucumber
    • Watermelon-Ginger-Mint
    • Apple-Carrot-Beetroot
    • Amla – Aloevera
  • Honey-Lemon Water – It’s an excellent natural diuretic (toxins removed through Urine). Honey is rich in antioxidants and flavonoids that helps in weight loss. Lemon is a well-known detoxifying agent. The pectin fiber in lemon slows down the digestion of sugars and starches, and improves gut health & thus helps in weight loss. Warm water too aids in digestion, relieves pain, enhances blood circulation, etc.
    • Honey mixed with cinnamon controls sugar spikes by reducing triglycerides (type of fat in the blood) & thereby helps in weight loss.
  • Green Tea – Green tea contains caffeine and EGCG, which inhibits enzymes & thereby boosts fat burning hormones.
  • Chamomile Tea – is loaded with calcium, potassium and flavonoids that helps in detox & also boosts metabolism besides giving a restful sleep.
  • Cinnamon tea – Consuming cinnamon during bedtime boosts metabolism as it is loaded with various antioxidant and antibiotic properties.
    • How to make cinnamon tea – Take 1 cup of boiling water and add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Mix them together and allow it to seep in for around 20-30 minutes. Sip a cup of cinnamon tea at least half an hour before going to bed for effective results.
