Ingredients

  • Daliya (Broken Wheat) – 0.5 Cup
  • Split Green Moong Dal – 0.5 Cup
  • Ghee(topping up) – 1 tablespoon
  • Jeera Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
  • Green Peas – 1/4 Cup
  • Carrots – 1/4 Cup
  • Tomatoes chopped or pureed – 1-2
  • Grated ginger – 1/4 inch
  • Water – 3 to 4 Cups
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the Green Moong Dal for 15-30 minutes after washing it.
  2. Melt the Ghee in a pressure cooker.
  3. When the mixture is heated, add the asafoetida and Jeera. Add the veggies, ginger, and turmeric once the Jeera has started to crackle. Stir it up quickly.
  4. Add the green chilies if using.
  5. Stir in the Daliya and Green Dal, as well as 3 cups of water and salt to taste.
  6. Cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
